Description :

The main duties of this apprenticeship include:

Assisting the clerks and barristers
  • Helping clerks to fulfil their duties and assisting in the smooth and efficient running of the Clerks room.
  • Assisting the Barristers and helping them with their daily needs.
  • Assisting Barrister when attending Court (Carrying of documentation & Books.)
Handling post
  • Receipt and Distribution of Post
  • Parcelling of post and DX
  • Dealing with post / franking machine including trips to the post office
General office duties
  • Processing of incoming and outgoing emails, scanned documents & faxes
  • Collection and distribution of briefs and instructions
  • Photocopying and filing of documentation
  • Answering telephones
  • Be the on‑call person / contact for telephone and IT issues
  • Paying in cheques at the bank
  • Eventually Mags / Pattison Law type billing plus assisting all other Clerks with any ad‑hoc assistance (heavily supervised at least to begin with)
  • Reception of clients and making of tea and coffee
  • Ordering and checking stock for stationery (including hand towels)
  • Ordering and checking stock for coffee, tea, sugar, water and biscuits
  • Set up / prep conference rooms
  • Confidential waste
  • Collar cleaning
  • General tidiness of Chambers
  • Organise and facilitate strong‑room clear‑out and company to take away broken computers / chairs etc
  • If they could organise for ad‑hoc repairs (electricians, plumbers – we have regular firms so would just be a call or email to arrange call‑out and then supervise call‑out) the external doors, that would be helpful.
Requirements :

Applicants should be literate and numerate. Grade C / 4 and above in English, Maths and IT are required.

Training to be provided :
Business Administration Level 3 Standard
