Job description
Building Surveyor | Specialist Reporting Role with a Clear Growth Path

This is a rare opportunity to step into a specialist Building Surveyor role where your report writing skills genuinely matter. A replacement position within an established consultancy, offering stability now and variety over time.

You’ll join a respected, multidisciplinary practice with a strong public and private sector client base. The team is known for technical quality, collaboration and doing things properly. People stay here because they’re supported, trusted and developed.

The role

This position is initially FRAEW report focused, working on specialist fire-related assessments that play a critical role in building safety and compliance. Over time, the role can naturally broaden into more general building surveying and project‑led work, depending on your interests and strengths.

What you’ll be doing
  • Producing high‑quality FRAEW and technical survey reports
  • Inspecting residential buildings and assessing external wall systems
  • Providing clear, structured written advice for clients and stakeholders
  • Working alongside experienced surveyors and fire specialists
  • Gradually expanding into wider surveying or project work if desired
What they’re looking for
  • Building Surveying experience with strong report writing skills
  • Clear, confident written communication
  • Interest in fire safety and building compliance
  • Consultancy background preferred but not essential
  • Open to developing and broadening your role over time
What’s in it for you
  • Salary up to £50,000, above market for the role and location
  • Structured support and training in fire safety
  • Hybrid and flexible working options
  • Long‑term career development, not a dead‑end specialist role
  • Supportive, inclusive and people‑first culture
Why this role will excite you
  • You’ll become a specialist without being pigeonholed
  • Your written and technical skills will be valued
  • You’ll have the option to shape the role as you grow
  • You’ll work on meaningful, safety‑critical projects

If you’re a Building Surveyor who enjoys technical reporting but wants future variety and progression, this is well worth a conversation.
