Building Surveyor

Gosport

£33 per hour (PAYE)

£37.04 per hour (CIS)

Contract expected to run until June

You will be based at our Gosport Town Hall within a Property Services team reporting to the Senior Building Surveyor.

You will carry out a wide range of duties across our varied 3,+ housing stock, together with our asset portfolio of corporate operational, commercial and community assets.

You will predominantly be attending day to day repairs, updating stock data, evaluating and diagnosing what work is required, assessing the best options to carry out the work and issuing response repairs.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out day-to-day response repairs in a housing or commercial environment.
  • Update stock data and perform measured surveys accurately.
  • Evaluate and diagnose required work, assess best options and issue response repairs.
  • Manage contractors, negotiate contractual matters and resolve disputes.
  • Exercise cost control techniques and provide commercial awareness in cost estimates.
  • Audit completed repairs and assess value for money.
Requirements
  • Relevant experience and knowledge of general day-to-day response repairs in housing or commercial environments.
  • Good building construction technology and building pathology knowledge.
  • Knowledge of building legislation and relevant health & safety regulations, including Working at Height and Control of Asbestos.
  • Practical surveying skills, including stock data recording and measured surveys.
  • Ability to manage contractors, negotiate contracts and resolve disputes.
  • Cost control techniques and commercial awareness when undertaking large repair work and auditing repairs.
  • Analytical skills to interrogate, analyse and evaluate previous repair information.
Additional
  • Full current driving licence and a car (essential car user allowance paid if duties justify).
  • Occasional need to work outside normal working hours.
