South West Norse is recruiting a Building Surveyor to carry out detailed Condition surveys and asbestos compliance checks on buildings.
Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed asset condition surveys across a varied range of properties, including corporate buildings, depots, schools, libraries, let tenanted farms and more.
- Prepare schedules of condition, dilapidation claims, planned maintenance programmes and technical reports.
- Check the condition of known asbestos containing materials (ACMs) listed on existing asbestos registers, demonstrating competence to assess the condition of known items without taking samples.
- Manage an autonomous work programme, plan site visits and travel frequently within Devon.
- Engage stakeholders and negotiate with all levels of internal and external parties.
- Apply knowledge of Building Regulations, Health & Safety and other relevant construction and building surveying legislation to support survey work.
Qualifications
- Ideally hold a degree in a building surveying related subject and be working towards a Chartered Membership of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
- Have at least three years’ experience in building fabric condition surveying in commercial buildings.
- Hold a minimum of a P402 asbestos qualification or be prepared to train for the qualification as soon as possible.
- Demonstrate excellent stakeholder management skills.
- Show the ability to work independently with minimal support.
- Comfortable with frequent travel and remote working, mainly within Devon, and within an agile and flexible working strategy.
