Job summary

A leading global real estate firm is looking for a Building Surveyor intern based in London for a 12-month program. The position involves real work from day one, such as conducting site inspections, preparing reports, and acting as a Contract Administrator. What this job involves

During this 12 month programme, you will work with some of the best Building Surveying specialists in the Real Estate industry. You’ll gain first‑hand experience within our Building Surveying teams. Exceptional performance during your placement may lead to an invitation to interview for our graduate scheme the following year.

What your day‑to‑day will look like

You’ll get involved in real work from day one that will help clients achieve their ambitions. The work will vary depending on the team you are in but below are some of what you’ll experience:

  • Visiting sites to complete Building Surveyor's inspections
  • Completing desktop survey research about sites
  • Preparing reports following inspections to outline the state of the property/site
  • Acting as a Contract Administrator and Employer’s Agent on fit‑out and refurbishment contracts
  • Negotiating schedules of dilapidations and preparing exit strategies for required repair work
  • Helping with planning preventative maintenance plans
  • Assisting with the co‑ordination of portfolio instructions and undertaking other duties from time to time as may be reasonably required
  • Keeping your knowledge up to date with building and sustainability standards, legal knowledge, and building pathology
Required Skills and Experience
  • GCSEs – C / 4 grade or above in English and Maths (or equivalent)
  • Degree – on track to receive a 2:1 or above in any bachelor’s degree in Building Surveying
  • You should be undertaking a degree with an industrial placement year as part of your studies
  • Right to work in the UK: you will need to have right to work in the UK, with no time restrictions or limited working hours as this is a full‑time role.
