Our Client, a well‑established leading FM Company, is offering a full‑time permanent opportunity for an Electrical Shift Engineer working within the landlord side of commercial buildings in Canary Wharf. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in both electrical and mechanical systems, with the ability to troubleshoot and maintain various equipment. This role requires excellent leadership skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with team members and customers. The Maintenance Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities and equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment
- Identifying faults and carrying out repairs to electrical equipment and systems
- Carrying out electrical installation work in accordance with regulations
- Maintaining accurate records of work carried out
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
- Conduct regular maintenance checks on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including logic controllers and schematics
- Perform welding tasks as required for repairs or modifications
- Supervise maintenance staff and provide guidance on best practices
- Collaborate with other departments to address maintenance needs and improve operational efficiency
- Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to maintenance requests and inquiries
Additional Responsibilities
To undertake prescribed maintenance tasks as directed by the Engineering Supervisor. The post holder will work with a small team of maintenance staff on a rotating day shift rota, carrying out planned maintenance tasks and varied unscheduled work.
Qualifications and Person Requirements
- Full‑time apprenticeship in an electrical or building services HVAC discipline with City & Guilds 236 part 1 & 2 certification or NVQ Level 3
- Mechanical apprenticeship acceptable with relevant electrical experience
- Previous experience working in a modern building services maintenance environment and ability to demonstrate basic understanding of HVAC and building services
- Desirable: completion of Electrical Installation requirements (BS7671:2018) 18th edition through an approved course
- Level 3 Qualification in Electrical Installation and/or Maintenance Inspection and Testing, such as City & Guilds 2391, 2394, 2395 and/or the EAL Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification Qualification
- 18th Edition of BS7671
- Technical expertise, qualifications or apprenticeship in a craft skill or engineering discipline required
- Knowledge of key operational procedures (time sheets, planned maintenance systems, quality and health & safety)
- Substantial operational and technical experience with demonstrated potential
- Experience of positively dealing with the resolution of customer problems within specific contracts
