Building Safety Manager

Salary GBP55,482

Contract Type – Full time, permanent, 35 hours per week

This highly thought of housing provider is seeking an experienced Building Safety Manager to take the lead for ensuring the safety and compliance of their in–scope high risk and high–rise buildings, particularly in relation to fire safety and structural integrity, and for managing building safety risks.

You will play a vital role in engaging with residents on building safety matters, addressing concerns and ensuring they feel safe in their homes. The role provides assurance by ensuring compliance with current and evolving safety regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Managing compliance with the organisations Building Safety Policy and the day–to–day safety of all in–scope buildings under the Building Safety Act.
  • Inputting into the development of a Resident Engagement Strategy and lead on providing information and communication with residents about the safe management of their building, safety responsibilities and any issues that may arise.
  • Engaging with and fostering a good working relationship with the Building Safety Regulator and local Fire Authority to ensure that their expectations are clearly understood and Building Assurance Certificates are issued and maintained.
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to develop and maintain Building Safety Cases for their in–scope buildings and proactively manage any identified risks,
  • Attending contractor / consultant / procurement meetings with colleagues for works taking place at the organisations in–scope buildings to ensure building safety is always maintained.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of legislation and industry best practice regarding Building Safety.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and investigate and manage customer complaints.
Qualifications
  • A post–graduate degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent work experience.
  • A Relevant Fire Safety qualification accredited by the IFE or IFSM or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a similar role – ideally for a residential housing provider.
  • Excellent understanding of the Building Safety Act and all relevant legislative and regulatory standards.
  • A degree of thoroughness and show great attention to detail
  • Experience in developing and maintaining safety management systems and safety cases.
  • Strong communication skills with the confidence and ability to engage and interact at all levels
