Job description
United Autosports – McLaren Hypercar Programme

Full-time, travelling role

If you’re the kind of engineer who hates guesswork, sees failure modes before they happen, and takes pride in disciplined, structured engineering — this is the role you’ve been working towards.

About the Role

As ourBuild & Reliability Engineer, you will lead the engineering discipline that determines whether our Hypercar delivers performance consistently across the season. You will manage build standards, quality control, component life, fault tracking, root cause analysis and all reliability processes.

You will be expected to own problems, raise standards, and support the entire team in delivering bulletproof engineering.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Setting engineering build standards, tolerances, documentation and quality expectations.
  • Running the reliability programme: FMEA, failure tracking, root cause analysis, countermeasures.
  • Managing component life cycles, usage data and replacement justification.
  • Leading strip reports, inspections and post-event analysis.
  • Working closely with mechanics, engineers and manufacturers to solve problems quickly and correctly.
  • Producing clear, structured engineering reports and debrief documentation.
  • Improving processes, documentation and build quality through continuous improvement.
  • Supporting operational decision-making during live events based on reliability risk assessment.
What We’re Looking For
  • Strong motorsport engineering experience (WEC, IMSA, LMP2, F1, FE, or equivalent).
  • Proven track record in reliability engineering, build engineering or quality engineering.
  • High-level mechanical understanding and the ability to identify and prevent failure modes.
  • Excellent technical documentation, data handling and problem-solving capability.
  • Calm, analytical and methodical under pressure — the person who brings logic to chaos.
  • Someone who takes pride in engineering discipline, consistency and precision.

This is a critical role in the programme — one that directly impacts performance, safety and results.
