A local library service is seeking a part-time Branch Librarian based in Glynneath Library. The ideal candidate will oversee library operations, supervise staff, and enhance library services to the community. Responsibilities include managing day-to-day administration, contributing to staff training, and maintaining safety records. Location of post: Glynneath Library, Park Avenue, Glynneath, Neath Port Talbot SA11 5DW
We are currently looking for an experienced person to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient day to day administration and management of the library.
The main duties of the post are;
To supervise the efficient day to day administration and management of the library
Supervision of staff in the library
Routine supervision of IT equipment and services
Contribute to staff training requirements within the library
Contribute formally to discussions on service development especially through engagement with schools and local community groups
To identify growth potential for the library and promote library usage
To contribute to stock selection and promotion
To maintain records and undertake the necessary checks in line with the Health and Safety of the building
To develop links with young people organisations and schools to enhance services to children
To be flexible and adapt to changes within the service.
About you:
You will have experience of professional library work
Experience of supervising and motivating staff
You should have extensive experience of working in public libraries and have excellent oral and written communication skills
Ideally you will have a good standard of education, minimum of 4 GCSE’s or equivalent grades A-C which should include English
