Job summary

A small and friendly business in Milton Keynes is looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to manage the finance function independently. You'll handle tasks from processing invoices and VAT returns to account reconciliations. The ideal candidate will have a professional accountancy qualification or equivalent experience and be detail-oriented and organised. Strong communication skills are essential for liaising with management and external accountants in this permanent full-time position.

Job description

I am currently recruiting on behalf of my client, a small and friendly business based in Bradwell Abbey, who are looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to join their team. This is a stand‑alone role where you'll manage the day‑to‑day accounts and work closely with the Managing Director and their external accountants.

What you'll be doing:
  • Full end-to-end finance function from start through to trial balance.
  • Processing invoices, payments, and expenses
  • VAT returns
  • Stock booking and processing
  • Reconciling accounts and keeping financial records accurate
  • Acting as the first point of contact for all finance-related queries
  • Liaising with the MD and external accountancy firm
What they're looking for:
  • Professional accountancy qualification or QBE
  • Experienced with MS Excel and Sage Line 50
  • Strong bookkeeping experience, including trial balance preparation
  • Someone who's comfortable working independently in a small business environment
  • Detail-oriented, organised, and reliable
  • Good communication skills for working with management and external partners
