Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a clinical laboratory.
  • Computer literate and self-motivated.
  • Familiarity with quality and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

Main duties and responsibilities
  • Booking in clinical samples
  • Running clinical laboratory procedures to assist the Clinical Team with improved efficiency
  • Referring clinical samples to external laboratories where relevant
  • Routine laboratory housekeeping duties
  • Monthly stock checks
  • Routine maintenance of instruments and systems
  • Maintain up to date knowledge in the relevant areas of clinical biology and recent diagnostic developments
  • Authorising clinical reports for dispatch to customers.
  • Contributing to the QMS in the form of updating and reviewing controlled documents, reporting on performance of the services, attending and providing training.
  • Other duties as reasonably requested with regards to the functioning of the clinical laboratory.
Qualifications
  • BSc in Biomedical science or equivalent
  • HCPC Registered
  • Molecular diagnostics skills including PCR, nucleic acid extraction and RNA handling
  • Experience of clinical diagnostics, human genetics, biochemistry and/or clinical microbiology
  • Previous experience of working within an accredited clinical laboratory and familiarity with quality and regulatory standards
  • Computer literate
  • Self-motivated, good communication skills and a team player
Additional Information

Working Days: This is a 12-month fixed term contract, 37.5 hours over 5 days between Monday and Saturday

Salary: Up to £32,000 depending on experience
