MCS Group is delighted to be working in partnership with the Southern Health and Social Care Trust to recruit a Specialist Biomedical Scientist (Band 6) based at Craigavon Area Hospital.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking laboratory service within the Acute Directorate, where you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality diagnostic support to clinicians and patients.

The Role

As a Specialist Biomedical Scientist, you will:

• Perform a wide range of routine and specialist diagnostic tests, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of results.
• Take responsibility for quality control, troubleshooting and first-line equipment maintenance to uphold analytical integrity.
• Support out-of-hours laboratory services, working independently to provide essential diagnostic analysis.
• Assist in training and supervision of Trainee Biomedical Scientists and Medical Laboratory Assistants.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of standard operating procedures and quality management systems.
• Participate in audits, clinical governance activities, and the evaluation of new equipment and techniques.
• Maintain your continuing professional development in line with HCPC requirements.

The Person

The successful candidate will have:

• Current HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
• Minimum 1 year post-registration experience.
• Completion of the IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Clinical Biochemistry.
• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (reasonable adjustments will be considered for applicants with disabilities).

You will also demonstrate excellent communication skills, the ability to work effectively under pressure, strong IT literacy, and a commitment to quality and patient care.
