About the Role

We are working with an engineering consultancy specialising in environmental consulting, energy efficiency and sustainable engineering solutions. They deliver projects that often include mechanical / building services engineering and are expanding their use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) tools to improve design quality, coordination, and sustainability in their work. As a BIM / Revit Technician, you will be a key member of the design team, responsible for developing, maintaining and coordinating models and technical drawings, ensuring they meet internal and external standards, with particular attention to environmental and sustainability considerations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain 3D models (especially in Revit) for mechanical, electrical, and building services / energy systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
  • Produce associated 2D documentation (plans, sections, elevations) from Revit models.
  • Assist with clash detection and resolution across disciplines, ensuring coordination with architectural, structural, MEP and other consultants.
  • Ensure all models and drawing outputs comply with agreed BIM / CAD standards, naming conventions, templates and workflows.
  • Support sustainable design goals: incorporate energy efficiency / low carbon / environmental design constraints into model geometry, data, materials etc.
  • Maintain the Revit family library; create or adapt parametric families as required.
  • Work within a Common Data Environment (CDE), managing version control, file management and ensuring data integrity.
  • Perform model audits, cleanups, and quality assurance checks.
  • Liaise with engineers, designers, architects, suppliers/contractors as needed to coordinate model inputs and resolve issues.
  • Advise / assist on BIM best practice, possibly contributing to internal BIM protocols, standards or training.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit - good modelling skills; experience with MEP / building services or energy systems is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of producing accurate documentation from Revit, including 2D drawings.
  • Familiarity with BIM workflows, CDE, version control.
  • Good understanding of building services engineering (mechanical, electrical etc.), or willingness to learn.
  • Experience in clash detection tools (e.g. Navisworks) is a plus.
  • Experience creating or adapting Revit families and system / project parameters.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to follow standards.
  • Good communication skills: able to coordinate with other disciplines, clarify technical issues and keep documentation up to date.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects and prioritise to meet deadlines.
Desirable / “Nice to Have”
  • Knowledge of BIM standards such as ISO 19650.
  • Experience or interest in sustainable / environmental engineering, energy modelling, or low carbon solutions.
  • Experience using Dynamo or scripting for automating tasks in Revit.
  • Experience working in small / micro entities or consultancies, where flexibility and taking ownership of model practices across projects is required.
What the Company Offers
  • Working in a forward-thinking consultancy focused on sustainability and environmental impact.
  • Opportunity to influence BIM standards and practices as the company grows.
  • Collaborative environment with exposure to a variety of energy / sustainability focused engineering projects.
  • Professional development opportunities around BIM, Revit & sustainable engineering.
  • Competitive salary (depending on experience), benefits, and potential for flexible working.
