Job description

An award-winning international commercial law firm are recruiting for a Bids & Proposals Team Leader to join their Liverpool or Manchester office. Reporting to the Head of Client Development, you will lead the firm’s bid team, manage the bid pipeline and content library, and work closely with lawyers and colleagues across all divisions and global offices to deliver high-quality, winning public and private sector tender responses.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, support and develop the firm’s bid team, fostering best practice and high performance.
  • Manage the bid pipeline, including bid / no-bid decisions, resourcing and use of external consultants where needed.
  • Champion and embed the firm’s bid process, ensuring consistent application across all opportunities.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of a comprehensive bids and proposals content library.
  • Manage and coach lawyers and other stakeholders throughout the bid process, including written submissions and presentations.
  • Project manage tender opportunities, including major panel frameworks and call-off bids, producing high-quality written responses.
  • Identify winning themes and differentiators aligned to client requirements, government policy, innovation and sustainability.
  • Build insight and future opportunities through client debriefs, procurement engagement, pipeline research and regular reporting to senior leadership.
Candidate
  • Professional background in a law firm or accountancy practice, with experience in bid team leadership, pipeline management, and public sector (ideally NHS) frameworks.
  • Strong bid project management and writing capability, with a proven understanding of proposal best practice and the ability to produce clear, concise responses to complex technical requirements.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, organisation and IT skills, with the ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and adapt flexibly.
  • Proactive and collaborative approach, with a willingness to travel, work flexibly, and continuously develop sector and service knowledge (APMP certification desirable).
