South Derbyshire District Council is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Benefits Officer to join our Benefits team, playing a key role in delivering a high-quality Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction service to our residents.
As a Benefits Officer, you’ll be providing a high quality and customer focused service to residents using your extensive knowledge of Benefit legislation to assess Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction cases accurately and efficiently, and in accordance with government legislation, case law, and local policy.
We are looking for someone who has an excellent knowledge of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction legislation, with a good working knowledge of MRI Revenues and Benefits processing software to process claims accurately and in a timely manner.
Other duties will include ensuring that recovery action is in place where Housing Benefit overpayments have been identified, answering customer enquiries, giving general advice to landlords and other internal and external organisations.
