Responsibilities of a Behaviour Support Assistant:

  • Supporting a pupil with Autism in navigating daily school life, using personalised behaviour strategies
  • Building a trusting, consistent relationship that encourages confidence, independence, and emotional security
  • Collaborating closely with class teachers, the SEN team, and the pupil’s family to implement effective support plans
  • Helping develop social skills and positive coping mechanisms to aid in long-term progress and well-being
  • Tracking progress, adapting support, and celebrating every step forward

Requirements for Behaviour Support Assistant role:

  • Experience working with children with SEN, particularly Autism or behavioural challenges( desirable)
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach with a genuine commitment to inclusive education
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to work in partnership with school staff and families
  • A proactive, solution-focused mindset and the ability to remain positive in challenging situations

  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
