Bank Tiverton Urgent Treatment Centre Sessional Doctor

The South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) is looking for additional doctors to work as part of the multidisciplinary team (HCAs, Nurses, Paramedics, Non-Medical Prescribers) at our Tiverton Urgent Treatment Centre. The UTC sees a variety of injuries and illnesses in all age groups and offers on-site x-ray and point of care testing. We aim to provide care closer to home and relieve pressure on the urgent and emergency care system.

Main duties of the job
  • Providing face to face consultations directly with patients, relatives and/or their carers
  • Providing patient centred care
  • Using point of care diagnostics to support decision making
  • Undertaking appropriate prescribing
  • Providing onward referral of patients if appropriate
  • Working as part of our clinical team to provide primary care support
  • Supporting other clinicians in the unit with clinical advice
  • Contributing to a positive team ethos

Job responsibilities

Person Specification
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council on the General Practitioner list or Specialist list (Emergency Medicine)
  • Clinical experience of primary healthcare in the diagnostic light setting
  • Being skilled at managing clinical risk
  • Demonstrate clear ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team
  • Being competent in basic ECG interpretation and musculoskeletal X-ray interpretation
  • Experience of emergency medicine or ambulatory care
  • Experience in more advanced x-ray interpretation (MSK, CXR)
  • Experience in manipulation and reduction of joint dislocations/fractures
  • Experience of minor surgery including ring blocks, wound closure and suturing
  • Advanced life support or intermediate life support
