Job summary

Bank Paramedic to join the Primary Care team at HMP Brixton. HMP Brixton is a Category B male prison (since April 2025) housing men on remand. Our patients' needs will vary greatly, with a focus on mental health, substance misuse and early days in custody.

Hours

Bank shifts

Monday–Friday 7.30am–8.30pm; Weekend 8.30am–7.30pm

Salary

£25.14 per hour

Main duties of the job

As a Paramedic, responsibilities will vary. You will:

  • Provide outstanding evidence-based care to patients, listening to and acting on their feedback so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them — focusing on emergency and unplanned care for patients with both primary care and acute care needs.
  • Deliver non-judgemental care, build therapeutic relationships and promote professional boundaries.
  • Be actively involved in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care following policies and procedures, always considering safeguarding.

Qualifications and experience

Essential

  • Qualified Paramedic
  • Current professional registration (HCPC)
  • Proven post-registration ambulance experience
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • A non-judgemental and compassionate approach
  • Proven experience in either Accident & Emergency, Primary Care environments or Minor injuries/illness

Desirable

  • Experience in hospital, community or prison environment (not essential)
