Overview

We are excited to offer a unique opportunity for a Consultant Hand Therapist to lead and shape a high-performing service within a busy, diverse acute hospital. This new Band 8c role is your chance to drive innovation, champion clinical excellence, and influence the future of hand therapy for complex trauma patients. You will lead a talented team managing acute hand injuries, collaborating closely with surgical, ED, and therapy colleagues. Alongside delivering advanced clinical care, you will guide service development, research, and workforce growth. This is a patient-facing role.

Responsibilities
  • Provide highly specialist assessment, treatment and advice to patients within your area of specialty, facilitating and maximising patient potential within the service boundaries
  • Offer highly specialist guidance and advice to other members of the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) on matters relating to your specialist area
  • Provide a lead role in teaching and supervising physiotherapists, occupational therapists and students
  • Contribute to the development of the Hand Therapy service through the promotion, adaptation and development of policies, procedures and guidelines using evidence-based practice and current research
