Overview

A vacancy at Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust – a large, integrated community and specialist provider in the West Midlands. The role is based at Moseley Hall Hospital and offers the possibility of working fewer than 37.5 hours per week for suitable candidates.

Key responsibilities
  • Provide highly complex psychological assessments using a broad range of tests and interview techniques.
  • Develop comprehensive formulations and treatment plans for clients with severe neuropsychological problems, including family breakdown, serious mental illness, vulnerable adults and aggressive or violent behaviour.
  • Implement a range of psychological and neuropsychological interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups.
  • Supervise and support the clinical assessment and therapy delivered by other psychologists and clinical team members.
  • Exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the service, working autonomously within professional guidelines.
  • Utilise research skills for audit, policy development and service improvement.
  • Support proposals and implementation of policy changes within the service area.
  • Line manage clinical psychologists and assistant psychologists as required.
  • Participate in senior clinical development of a high‑quality, responsive and accessible neuropsychology service, advising on service and organisational matters.
  • Maintain effective collaboration with other psychologists, CPD events, team meetings and reflective practice groups.
Qualifications and experience
  • Substantial experience in neuropsychology.
  • Completed the underpinning knowledge component of training towards eligibility for the Specialist Register for Clinical Neuropsychologists (SRCN).
  • Demonstrable leadership and management experience relevant to a Band 8b level position.
  • Post‑graduate doctoral level training and further specialist training in clinical psychology.
