Overview

A Vacancy at Barking Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and autonomous senior practitioner to join the Trust as the Lead Practitioner/Nurse for the Learning Disability & Autism Team. We are looking for a visionary and empathetic Practitioner/Nurse with a deep understanding of the complexities and challenges that people with learning disabilities and autistic people face in an acute hospital environment.

Qualifications and Applications

Applications are invited from Learning Disability Registered Nurses, Registered Mental Health Nurse, Registered Nurse, Midwife or AHP with a minimum of 2 years current experience in an acute hospital environment at Band 7 level, related to Learning Disabilities and Safeguarding.

Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for improving the quality of care received by individuals with a learning disability and autistic people within the acute hospital setting and act as a role model and clinical expert within the speciality of learning disability and autism nursing across all areas of the Trust, supporting clinical staff in the management of care planning for patients. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the care and experience of patients with learning disabilities and autistic people within our Trust. You will need excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills and the ability to interact with people from a wide variety of professional backgrounds.

About the Trust

We operate from two main sites – KGH in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford. We have two busy emergency departments with more than 330,000 people visiting them last year. Our patients benefit from projects including the Women’s Health Hub in Ilford; an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) at Barking Community Hospital and St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub in Hornchurch. These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week and provide additional scans.
