Job description
Band 8A Advanced Clinical Practitioner - Medical Retina

This is an exciting opportunity for an ACP to support the clinical leadership team for the Ophthalmology Community Diagnostic Centres across NCL.

The successful candidate will need to gain and maintain a clear understanding of the challenges and obstacles faced by the community diagnostic centres and relevant hospital sites within NCL in meeting Government, NHD recommendations such as NICE Guidance and the wider changes and developments.

The successful candidate will participate in all aspects of Medical Retina virtual service and work closely with the medical retina consultants and CDC senior operations manager to deliver a high-quality virtual serviceTo assist the consultant in the oversight of service delivery of the virtual aspect of CDC Ophthalmology service.

Assessing patients and undertaking treatment for patients with age related macular degeneration and other conditions as the role develops.Undertake fundoscopy and manage own caseload in clinic at consultant level.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is responsible for the delivery of safe, effective care leading to an excellent experience for patients and carers by;

Being responsible for the strategic delivery of high quality patient centred care within the speciality ( medical retina) along with supporting the ambitions of the CDC core objectives and strategies

Lead and be responsible for setting the standards within the clinical team and for ensuring that the environment allows the workforce to feel supported to deliver safe and effective care

o Lead the team in reviewing patient pathways ensuring that patients experience a positive experience while under our care, which also drives effectiveness and efficiency in service delivery.

Lead as a driver for change, monitoring and improving standards through supervision, evidence based practice, clinical audit, research and education.

Lead in ensuring that the workforce has the skills and knowledge to continuously evolve the service to meet the needs of our patients via research and education.
