A community healthcare provider in Birmingham seeks compassionate nurses for their Children’s Palliative Care Nursing Service. The role requires providing high-quality care to children with life-threatening conditions, supporting families during palliative and terminal phases. Responsibilities include participating in on-call duties and enhancing leadership skills. Applicants should be registered Children’s or Adult Nurses with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
The successful candidate will also be expected to provide professional support to the Children’s Community Nursing service and Rapid Response Teams. The Palliative Care Service works alongside other Specialist Nursing Services including Children’s Complex Care and Special School Nursing teams. Are you READY for a new challenge? A new exciting opportunity has arisen for three additional skilled, motivated and compassionate nurses with relevant experience in caring for children with life‑threatening/limiting conditions. Our established, passionate, and dedicated Children’s Palliative Care Nursing Service delivers high‑quality and holistic child‑centred care to CYP who require nursing interventions, focusing on quality of life and supporting the child/young person and family through their palliative care journey and end‑of‑life phase while in their own home. Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (BCHC) has more than 5000 staff working across Birmingham and the West Midlands in a wide range of community nursing and specialist healthcare roles, delivering over 100 clinical services in people’s homes, health centres, clinics and inpatient facilities, with a commitment to integrated, personalised care rooted in local communities.
As part of the palliative care nursing team you will participate in on‑call duties to provide end‑of‑life care to children and young people requiring it. You will support families to ensure all aspects of social, emotional, practical, and nursing needs are met, while enabling you to further enhance your leadership and management skills within a supportive and experienced team.
If you are a registered Children’s Nurse or Adult Nurse and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to be a team player, and the initiative to work autonomously and effectively, we would be very interested in receiving an application from you. The role requires a passion for ensuring that CYP and their families are well supported at home during the palliative and terminal phase of their care, and that you possess the necessary knowledge and skills as identified in the person specification.
