Overview

The role of the Band 6 Nurse is to undertake pre-operative assessment of patients awaiting elective surgery across a wide range of specialties, ensuring patients are prepared physically and psychologically for surgery whilst minimising short notice cancellations. This is a secondment role at St Albans City Hospital.

Responsibilities

• Undertake pre-operative assessment across a wide range of specialties.
• Ensure patients are prepared physically and psychologically for surgery.
• Minimise short notice cancellations.
• Demonstrate evidence of personal development, good communication skills, knowledge and experience in the care of the surgical patient, leadership and time management skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Contribute to a busy Pre-operative Assessment department within a supportive and friendly environment.
