Overview

Band 5 Substance Misuse Nurse

Location: Salisbury, Wiltshire, Salisbury

Salary: £28,407 per annum

Vacancy Type: Permanent, Full Time

What You'll Be Doing
  • Conducting holistic assessments and providing evidence-based nursing interventions tailored to each client's needs.
  • Delivering brief interventions, crisis support, and care planning in line with recovery-focused principles, including the 12-Step model.
  • Assessing and monitoring medical detoxifications and other prescribed medications.
  • Supporting clients\' physical and psychological wellbeing, helping them navigate challenges and work towards positive lifestyle changes.
  • Triaging clients for further medical assessment with an ANP, GP, or psychiatrist as needed.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the multidisciplinary team to provide integrated, high-quality care.
  • Maintaining accurate, timely, and professional clinical records.
  • Administering medication safely, including controlled drugs, and ensuring strict adherence to safe storage procedures.
  • Following infection control practices and reporting any maintenance concerns.
  • Treating clients with dignity, respect, and cultural sensitivity at all times.
  • Participating in supervision, reflective practice, and professional development opportunities.
  • Contributing proactively to team meetings, service development, and quality improvement initiatives.
What We Are Looking For
  • Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration
  • Sound clinical knowledge and nursing practice experience
  • Experience in substance misuse or related field
  • Strong assessment skills, including risk assessments
  • Experience of key working and care planning
  • Knowledge of recovery approaches (including 12-Step model)
  • Robust knowledge of medication rounds, safe storage, and administration (including controlled drugs)
  • Awareness of health issues relating to substance misuse
  • Knowledge and understanding of infection control
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong IT and accurate record-keeping skills
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development post-registration
  • Ability to reflect on practice and engage in further training
  • Commitment to treating service users with dignity, respect, and cultural sensitivity
  • Strong communication skills with warmth and empathy
  • Knowledge of maintenance reporting processes (desirable)
