Job summary

A UK healthcare provider is seeking a Senior Pharmacy Technician to work within HMP Birmingham. This role involves managing and administering medications for various health conditions, including both physical and mental health issues. The ideal candidate will have an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council, and possess excellent teamwork and motivational skills. Senior Pharmacy Technician – Technical Specialist in Medicines Management/Administration

Band 5 + Environmental Allowance (£1542 per annum pro‑rota) – 33.75 hours per week

HMP Birmingham are looking for a Medicines Management and Administration Band 5 Pharmacy Technician to join our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administration of medications for both physical health and mental health conditions, including opioid substitute therapy and controlled medications.
  • Medication history taking and medication reconciliation.
  • Medication compliance checks and patient counselling.
  • Dispensary and accuracy checking duties.
  • Providing advice to patients and referring to relevant clinicians for complex issues and chronic disease specialist services.
  • Minor ailment supply services.
  • Participating in health promotion.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • NVQ Level 3, BTEC in Pharmacy, or equivalent qualifications.
  • Current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Current APCT.
  • Excellent team player who is flexible and has the tenacity to see tasks through to completion.
  • Enthusiastic, motivated and ready for a challenge.

Full training will be provided to upskill and allow you to demonstrate competency in areas of the job description.
