Vacancy at Barking Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time band 4 senior healthcare assistant within the ophthalmology department (eye clinic) in our Trust.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Work as a member of the nursing team within agreed standards of nursing care and competencies to provide high quality of nursing care in direct and indirect client care, including clerical and administrative support.
  • Participate and contribute to the team in maintaining and developing high standards of patient care.
  • Contribute to the provision of technical services which include visual acuity assessment, auto refraction, Humphreys visual field test assessment, Heidelberg retina tomography (HRT), optical coherence tomography (OCT), IOL Master biometry assessment and other tests required for the service.
  • Rotate throughout each area within the department and across all BHRUT sites, covering other ophthalmic clinic sessions at outreach clinics.
  • Support ophthalmic nursing with knowledge of ocular photography, OCT, and visual fields.
