Job summary

A leading healthcare provider in Birmingham is seeking a dedicated individual for a role in Prosthetics and Orthotics. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual with an interest in Prosthetics and Orthotics who would like to gain experience within this specialist field, to work closely alongside both Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapists to plan, develop and deliver therapeutic interventions within this specialised service.

To enable continuity of service provision,we are looking for someone to work five days a week across the two specialties, providing input within our Tertiary Centre at the West Midlands Rehabilitation Centre in Birmingham and also, when appropriate, within patients own home.

The West Midlands Rehabilitation Centre in Birmingham provides a specialist prosthetic and orthotic regional service across the whole West Midlands Region. The clinics are supported by a wide range of specialist rehabilitation services based within the Centre, including Access to Communication and Technology, Posture and Mobility, Wheelchair Services, Clinical Measurements Laboratory, Counselling and Psychology.

You will need to be educated to NVQ3 in relevant healthcare subject or an equivalent qualification including English. You should have experience caring for the older adult and disabled adults in the community and have some knowledge of amputation levels and of Neuro/Specialist Orthotic causes.

You should also have knowledge of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy treatments within Amputee Rehabilitation and Orthotics.

The job role is to provide support to qualified staff members in both the Prosthetic and Orthotic Regional Service, undertaking a range of duties which may include unsupervised delivery of therapeutic treatment. To have knowledge of the inter-disciplinary assessment process, negotiated client-centred goal setting and completion of relevant outcome measurements.

You must have good organisational skills including prioritisation of workload and time management skills, be self-motivated, organised and creative, demonstrate willingness to learn new skills and undertake training relevant to the role and have up to date knowledge of health and safety issues in the workplace.

You must be able to communicate effectively with patients /carers /colleagues and other agencies and be able to generate written communication, which is relevant, concise, accurate and legible.
