About the Role

Are you passionate about patient care and looking to develop your career in radiology? We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic CT and MRI Imaging Assistant to join our dynamic Imaging team at Newham University Hospital, part of Barts Health NHS Trust.

As an Imaging Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the CT/MRI Radiographers in delivering high-quality, compassionate care. You will be responsible for coordinating patient lists, assisting with patient preparation and transport, and performing IV cannulation under supervision.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. You’ll be part of a supportive team committed to excellence and innovation in imaging services.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the scheduling and coordination of inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department imaging lists.
  • Liaise with porters, wards, and clinicians to ensure safe and timely patient transport.
  • Cannulate patients for CT and MRI procedures (training provided if required).
  • Maintain stock levels and cleanliness in scan and cannulation rooms.
  • Provide clerical and reception support, including booking interpreters and managing patient queries.
  • Support patients throughout their imaging journey, ensuring dignity and comfort.
  • Work collaboratively with radiographers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
Essential Criteria
  • Minimum of 6 months’ paid NHS experience working in a radiology/imaging department.
  • Good standard of basic education, including English.
  • Experience working with the public.
  • Computer literacy and good telephone manners.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Positive, empathetic, and patient-focused attitude.
Desirable Criteria
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Experience in IV cannulation.
  • Previous healthcare experience in imaging or similar clinical settings.
