Responsibilities
- Provide a highly specialised and up-to-date physiotherapy service to the in-patient wards. Be competent in a range of Physiotherapeutic skills; respiratory, surgical, care of the elderly, neurology, MSK Outpatients and specialist rotation opportunities in paediatrics and oncology.
- To be an active member of the working rota which provides a physiotherapy service to all acute medicine wards, 7 days per week, including bank holidays.
- Provide clinical support and supervision for band 5 staff, students and assistants working in these areas.
- Be expected to provide and manage the physiotherapy service to highly complex acute in patients.
- Be actively involved in follow-up care when needed.
- This post will require a good understanding of a broad range of physiotherapy specialities, a good understanding of the role of Occupational Therapy, Social and Community Services and Support participating in the supervision of Band 5 Physiotherapists and assistants. The post holder should also have a broader understanding of departmental /therapy issues.
- The post holder will rotate through core clinical inpatient areas and MSK/Hands outpatient rotation.
- Apply up-to-date physiotherapy skills in the clinical field at a specialist post graduate level.
- Competently treat the 'more complex' patient where there are conflicting components i.e. multiple pathologies psychological and social problems.
- Identify, prioritise, assess and treat appropriate patients using physiotherapy modalities.
- Line Manage Band 5 Physiotherapy staff, band 2 and 3 assistants and students.
- Assist in the delivery of a high quality physiotherapy service.
