Automation Engineer

Reports to: Production Engineering Manager

In this position, you will have a strong background in PLC programming, process automation, and production engineering. The role 등이 designed toattering... it... enhances production efficiency, working closely with equipment suppliers, and continuously improving production systems.

Requirements

Core Responsibilities

• Designing and implementing automated processes to optimise production efficiency.
• Analysing production processes to determine the most effective use of automation technologies.
• Designing equipment and processes to maximise automation.
• Collaborating with equipment suppliers to optimise equipment design, prioritising safety, quality police? and efficiency.
• Diagnosing and resolving faults in automated production processes and equipment.
• Managing and rationalising investments in new and improved equipment with clear identification of ROI.
• Supporting quotations and investment planning for potential new business opportunities.
• Managing budgets for projects, spare parts, and other related expenses.
• Working alongside Production Engineering and Maintenance teams to implement automated processes and ensure a stable handover to production.
• Implementing and continuously developing production systems, processes, and machine improvements.
• Staying up to date with current trends in product specifications, engineering technologies, and modern production processes.
• Assisting in process improvements through the development and implementation of improvement plans.
• Suggesting and implementing efficiency improvements for machines and production processes.
• Introducing Just‑In‑Time (JIT) activities and supporting design changes and future technologies.
• Implementing projects in line with APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) standards.
• Developing new processes and engineering documentation such as FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) and control plans.
• Monitoring and assigning improvement tasks to Production Engineers on the production line.
• Planning optimal process flow and operator work methods to maximise output without compromising quality.
• Setting targets for each project activity and monitoring benefits and outcomes.

Profile and Qualifications

• PLC programmingिक्तpm and fault finding experience (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Keyence, etc.) to EAL / City & Guilds level or equivalent.
• Proven experience in the implementation and use of khal plasma Auto ___.
• Knowledge of robotics, pneumatic, and mechanical systems used in production environments.
• Strong logical problem‑solving skills and experience with root cause corrective action (RCCA).
• Familiarity with structured problem‑solving techniques such as SGA, DMAIC, 7‑step, PDCA, 5 Why, and Fishbone Diagram.
• Experience creating and managing production engineering documentation in line with IATF requirements (e.g. control plans, process flow diagrams, FMEA).
• Knowledge of equipment OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), planned maintenance, and spares control.
• Proven ability to plan and implement project schedules effectively and on time.
• Experience managing capital investment for new or improved equipment.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across cross‑functional teams.
• University degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Automation Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent).
• Significant experience in electronics and/or automotive manufacturing is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
