Your role

Our Automation Assurance Specialists play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and quality of technical solutions delivered to our clients. Their work provides confidence that implementations meet expectations and adhere to specifications. Responsibilities include executing comprehensive testing across areas such as Accessibility, Performance, Security, and Functional validation. We value continuous improvement, so the role requires strong experience in designing and maintaining clean, robust automation test suites and integrating them into a continuous integration pipeline.

They will be able to work on a vast variety of projects and get exposure to a variety of technologies such as (but not exhaustively) NodeJS, Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot framework, RESTful microservices, NoSQL databases. Our Automation Assurance Specialists sit within Digital Excellence, part of the Business Technology practice at Capgemini Invent, which leads digital transformation projects across Capgemini. We are an enthusiastic and dynamic community that values innovation, professional development, and the ability to make a real difference for our clients. We work in diverse multi‑disciplinary teams, hand‑in‑glove with our clients.

In this role you will play a key role in:
  • You'll undertake cross‑functional engineering projects, working in small teams with other engineers in different knowledge spheres, building supportable, sustainable, and reliable services
  • Be part of a community of engineers within Capgemini Invent. You will be able to work together as a community and help each other to deliver and develop as professionals. We work on large‑scale, technically challenging projects
  • Take personal responsibility for assuring confidence in the technical delivery – collaborating with other engineers and the design team
  • Continually improve our teams' processes, practices, tools, and techniques
  • Share your knowledge and experience with colleagues as you coach them and mentor them, helping the team to grow their skills, as well as developing your own skills by experimenting with and learning new technologies
  • Encourage innovation, inclusion, teamwork, self‑organisation, and diversity
  • Work with clients and internal teams to develop new opportunities and open‑source projects and initiatives
As part of your role, you will also have the opportunity to contribute to the business and your own personal growth, through activities that form part of the following:
  • Business Development – contributing to proposals, RFPs, bids, proposition development, client pitch contribution, client hosting at events
  • Internal Contribution – campaign development, internal think‑tanks, whitepapers, practice development (operations, recruitment, team events & activities), offering development
  • Learning & Development – training to support your career development and the skills demand within the company, certifications, etc.
Your profile

To be a part of our team, you will have a mixture of the following experience.

Required:

  • Have a certified ISTQB background; ISTQB Foundation at a minimum. Equivalent qualifications or experience may be considered.
  • Experience with these core testing techniques: Exploratory, Integration, Manual, Functional
  • Experience setting up and contributing to test frameworks in Java or JavaScript
  • Experience writing a variety of backend and frontend automated tests using Selenium, Playwright, Cucumber, REST, etc.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • Experience using online version control tools – GitHub, GitLab, etc.
  • Experience with self‑managing and being able to self‑identify areas that need work

Desirable:

  • Experience with a wider range of testing techniques (Accessibility, Performance, Security, etc.)
  • Experience with applying structured evaluation methods (AI evals) to validate outputs in real‑world scenarios
  • Experience using Docker to aid testing
  • Experience using Maven to run your automated tests
  • Experience with CI/CD (GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins)
  • Familiarity with web standards, accessibility, and test automation best practices
  • Knowledge of the GOV.UK design system
