Role Overview

The AutoCAD Technician will support our Building Surveying team in producing accurate technical drawings and documentation. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of building construction, surveying principles, and proficiency in AutoCAD software.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out measured building surveys.
  • Prepare detailed 2D drawings for building surveys, plans, and specifications using AutoCAD.
  • Interpret survey data and translate it into accurate technical drawings.
  • Assist surveyors in preparing design layouts, floor plans, elevations, and sections.
  • Ensure drawings comply with industry standards, building regulations, and company guidelines.
  • Maintain and update drawing records and project documentation.
  • Collaborate with surveyors, engineers, and project managers to deliver high-quality outputs within deadlines.
  • Support site visits when required to gather measurements and verify details.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as an AutoCAD Technician in the Building Surveying or construction industry.
  • Proficient in 2D AutoCAD as a minimum.
  • Strong spatial awareness and the ability to interpret and present complex 3D environments in a 2D capacity.
  • Good understanding of building construction, surveying terminology, and technical standards.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate drawings.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Desirable
  • An understanding of topographical surveying principles.
  • Experience with planning applications or the planning process.
  • Experience with BIM software and 3D modelling advantageous.
  • Knowledge of UK building regulations and standards.
  • Relevant qualifications in CAD.
