Salary: £13.68 - £16.12 per hour (Depending on Experience)

Are you passionate about supporting children with Autism to thrive in both their learning and personal development? GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Autism Teaching Assistant to join schools in Lytchett Minster, offering one-to-one and small group support to pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).

As an Autism Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and SENCOs to ensure students with ASC are fully supported in accessing the curriculum and daily school life.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver one-to-one and group support for students with Autism across classroom activities.
  • Assist teachers in adapting resources and strategies to meet individual needs.
  • Encourage positive communication, interaction, and social skills.
  • Promote emotional regulation, resilience, and independence in pupils.
  • Support students with sensory, behavioural, or communication needs as required.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to provide joined-up support.
  • Monitor and report progress to teaching staff and SENCOs.

Requirements:

  • CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance, or a relevant degree (e.g., Education, Psychology, Special Needs).
  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with Autism.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships.
  • A patient, calm, and adaptable approach to working with children.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
