Job summary

An education recruitment agency is looking for an Autism Support Practitioner to provide specialized care and educational support to children and young adults with autism. You will develop their social skills and promote self-regulation through personalized interventions in a nurturing environment. Candidates must have experience with autism support and be comfortable with personal care tasks. This full-time, long-term position is based in Harrogate and requires applicants to have the legal right to work in the UK.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of sensory needs and suitable sessions.

Job: Autism Support Practitioner

Location: Harrogate

Type: Full Time - Long Term (Permanent Roles Available)

The Role:

An Autism Support Practitioner will deliver a high level of tailored care and educational support to a range of children and young adults with autism and other learning needs. You will be confident in supporting a range of learners with their educational progress, developing social skills, whilst promoting self-regulation and development through a range of personalised and adapted interventions across their school day. The SEN setting for this role is set up with fantastic facilities to help create a nurturing and creative learning environment, including sensory rooms, soft areas, interactive play stations and outdoor education facilities.

The Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children or adults with Autism and/or other learning needs.
  • Comfortable supporting children and young adults with personal care, hygiene support and changing.
  • Have appropriate knowledge around sensory needs (Visual, Touch, Communication and Hearing) and how to implement suitable sessions for those learners.
  • Be confident in managing behaviour, implementing de-escalation techniques and helping children with self-regulation.
  • Able to support on a one-to-one basis, and across small intervention groups.
