Role Description

The Audit Technical and Delivery Lead is responsible for overseeing the execution of live audit engagements, ensuring technical quality and consistency across teams. This role supports audit offices by providing expert guidance on complex audit matters, facilitating the implementation of audit methodology, and driving continuous improvement in audit delivery.

The Lead collaborates closely with engagement teams to resolve technical queries, monitors delivery milestones, and contributes to the development of tools, templates, and training that enhance audit quality and efficiency.

This is a home-based role with travel to UK offices when required.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Control Procedures

  • Support the audit function in establishing and maintaining robust procedures, aid in developing UK audit offices and provide technical support.

Technical Query Management

  • Respond to and compile technical queries, providing clear and accurate resolutions, with the ability to track common themes.

Guidance and Documentation

  • Develop and disseminate guidance on emerging topics, amendments to financial reporting and auditing standards, and common themes identified from file reviews.

Training and Development

  • Deliver targeted training sessions as needed, addressing specific areas of improvement or new requirements.

Collaboration and Consistency

  • Collaborate closely with UK offices to ensure consistency and high quality in audit practices.
  • Work closely with Audit Compliance team on cold file review processes and root case analysis results to implement training and guidance.
What We're Looking For
  • Professional accountancy qualification such as ACA (or equivalent).
  • Strong experience in external audit, quality control, and technical accounting.
  • Experience in data analytics tools would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of the Mercia audit methodology and MyWorkpapers audit software beneficial but not required.
  • In-depth knowledge of auditing standards, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in audit software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders at all levels.
