Overview
A well-established and growing accountancy practice in the Portsmouth area is seeking a confident and capable Audit Senior to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified or part-qualified ACA/ACCA accountant who is looking to take the next step in their audit career.
You’ll play a key role in managing audit assignments, supervising junior staff, and working closely with clients across a diverse portfolio, including SMEs, charities, and larger corporate entities.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage audit assignments from planning through to completion
Liaise with clients to gather information, resolve queries, and manage expectations
Supervise and support junior team members, reviewing their work and providing feedback
Prepare and review statutory financial statements in accordance with FRS 102
Ensure audit files are completed to a high standard and in compliance with relevant regulations
Assist with ad-hoc projects and support the wider accounts and audit function
Report to Managers and Partners on complex audit issues
Candidate Profile
ACA/ACCA qualified or part-qualified (QBE also considered)
Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in audit within a UK accountancy practice
Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP and FRS 102
Confident communicator with a professional approach to client service
Able to manage multiple deadlines and assignments with attention to detail
Experience with accounting and audit software such as CaseWare, CCH, or similar (training can be provided)
