Job description
AV Tech Desk / Field Service Engineer

Location: London + Remote + Client Sites

Salary: £35,000 to £40,000 per annum

Are you a hands‑on engineer who loves solving real problems, meeting clients, and working with the latest technology? We're looking for a Tech Desk / Field Service Engineer to join the Service team of our client. Someone who takes pride in keeping systems running smoothly and delivering a brilliant experience for every client.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys variety. You might be working from the client's office in London one day, jumping on remote support the next, and heading to a client site the day after. You'll deal with everything from conference room tech to wider building systems, and there's lots of room to grow across the full range of technologies we support.

What you'll be doing
  • Solving problems & supporting clients
Handling support tickets, diagnosing issues, and closing them out with clear communication.
Taking ownership of client queries and keeping them updated throughout.
Attending onsite visits to troubleshoot, run diagnostics, repair faults, or raise RMAs.
Responding quickly to support calls and ensuring we meet our SLAs.
  • Keeping systems healthy
Carrying out routine preventative maintenance visits and documenting findings.
Completing daily checks to make sure client systems are operating as expected.
Identifying ageing kit and recommending upgrades.
Updating firmware, applying patches, and keeping on top of vendor updates.
  • Onsite engagement & fieldwork
Completing health checks and ensuring safety inductions are followed on client sites.
Working closely with onsite IT and facilities teams.
Managing your travel plans and scheduling visits (UK‑wide and occasional EU trips).
  • Documentation & reporting
Creating clear site reports, installation photos, and technical documentation.
Making sure ticket notes are detailed and accurate, including time, actions, and materials used.
Sharing knowledge with the wider team and contributing to internal documentation.
What you'll bring
  • Technical experience
Hands‑on experience with AV/meeting room tech such as Crestron, Extron, AMX, Biamp or BSS.
    Good understanding of audio/video processing.
Experience with building technologies like access control, CCTV, lighting, or BMS.
Strong IT/networking fundamentals – IP addressing, VLANs, cable testing, and general network troubleshooting.
Ability to read schematics and carry out firmware updates/diagnostics on networked devices.
  • Personal qualities
Great communication skills – able to explain technical details in a simple, friendly way.
Confident with clients and able to build strong working relationships.
Calm under pressure, especially when dealing with challenging situations.
Adaptable and quick to learn new technologies.
Proactive, organised, and comfortable working independently on client sites.
A team player who's happy to share knowledge and help colleagues when needed.
Willingness to travel and occasionally work at different sites.
  • Other requirements
    Full UK driving licence.
Valid passport (for occasional EU travel).
Willingness to complete security clearance checks when required.

If you're a skilled engineer who loves problem‑solving and wants to work with cutting‑edge tech across AV, IT, and building systems, we'd love to hear from you.
