A multi-disciplinary property and construction consultancy in Nottingham is seeking a Senior Associate or Director Project Manager to lead defence-related projects. This full-time hybrid role requires expertise in project management, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership. The successful candidate will manage the design process, support business development, and run projects valued up to £10m. Candidates must have a degree in a relevant field and strong understanding of UK regulations. Competitive benefits and opportunities for flexible work arrangements are provided.
Ingleton Wood is a value‑led, people‑focused practice providing clients with inspirational and practical design solutions; we exist to improve the communities in which we all live and work.
Established in 1935, we are a dynamic multi‑disciplinary property and construction consultancy offering a wide range of services across many industry sectors including commercial, education, defence, residential and more. We develop long‑term relationships with clients, adding value at every stage of development, and are one of a few medium‑sized consultancies to offer integrated design and technical expertise.
With a nationwide presence and offices across the UK, we plan to open further sites in the future to enhance our national service.
Our office is busy but fun – we work hard and we play hard. There is a strong emphasis on teamwork, both professionally and socially. We bring people together to improve the quality and sustainability of the built environment through our expert knowledge in delivering local solutions for global issues, underpinned by our shared vision of solving global challenges one building at a time and supported through our values: progressive, collaborative, supportive, and ownership‑driven.
This is a full‑time hybrid role for a Senior Associate or Director Project Manager at Ingleton Wood. The cost centre will be Nottingham, but the candidate will work across the practice where required. We offer flexible remote work as the defence sector at Ingleton Wood is UK National coverage.
The position will lead defence‑related projects, liaising with clients and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery. The role also involves strategic planning, business development, and team management with national coverage.
Applicants must have experience in defence‑sector design/project management, strategic planning and stakeholder engagement, with knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards in the defence industry.
Strong leadership, communication, decision‑making, and cross‑functional team management skills are essential. Proficiency in project management tools and software related to Engineering Architecture or Defence Management is a plus.
The candidate will be a forward planner and motivator, managing large teams across the practice to produce coordinated design packages. They must present ideas effectively, evaluate others’ ideas, and possess in‑depth knowledge of all aspects of a construction project, acting as an efficient document manager.
Key tasks include accumulating and producing design submissions, such as design narratives, technical design submittals, RFIs, Change Control, and financial tracking/scheduling.
The role will be the focal point for multiple design deliveries, requiring strong people skills and client‑facing capability. The candidate will also be responsible for maintaining and securing additional projects, managing existing clients, and generating new opportunities.
The role enables close collaboration with Defence Directors and Partners of Practice to shape the future of our defence strategy and contribute to the wider succession plan.
Successful applicants must hold or be able to obtain active UK SC Clearance.
We are committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace where everyone can be their best. If you’re excited about this role but your experience doesn’t align perfectly with every requirement, please apply anyway – you may just be the right candidate for this or other roles in our wider team.
