About the Opportunity

I’m partnering with a respected, long-standing civil and structural engineering consultancy that continues to grow across the region. With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality engineering solutions and a real commitment to staff development, they’re now looking to appoint a Principal or Associate Structural Engineer to help lead their Leeds team. This is a key senior appointment offering genuine progression, technical leadership responsibilities and the chance to work on a wide portfolio of complex, rewarding projects across commercial, residential, industrial and public-sector environments. If you’re an experienced structural engineer looking for a leadership platform within a people-focused consultancy, this is an excellent opportunity.

What you’ll be doing
  • Lead and oversee structural engineering design across a range of building types and materials.
  • Provide technical direction, checking and approval of drawings, calculations, designs and specifications.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, buildable design solutions.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, helping to develop technical capability and confidence.
  • Act as a client-facing lead engineer, strengthening relationships and ensuring repeat business.
  • Contribute to bids, proposals, fee development and wider business growth initiatives.
  • Take a lead role in project management—programme, quality, risk and delivery oversight.
What we’re looking for
  • Degree-qualified in Structural or Civil Engineering (MEng/BEng).
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status via ICE or IStructE.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience delivering structural engineering projects.
  • Strong technical understanding across concrete, steel, timber and masonry structures.
  • Familiarity with modern design tools and structural analysis software.
  • Confident communicator and able to manage client relationships effectively.
  • Experience leading project teams and supporting business development is highly desirable.
  • Someone enthusiastic, collaborative and able to inspire a team.
