Overview

The Department of Engineering at Durham University seeks to appoint an Associate Professor in Electrical Engineering or Fluid Mechanics. We welcome applications from those with research and teaching interests in electrical engineering, power electronics, machines and drives. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in experimental electrical engineering research, or in fluid mechanics with applications in energy, aerospace or vehicle aerodynamics. Applicants who have a track record of current funding that they could bring to Durham will be in a stronger position. Applicants should balance their research expertise with the ability to teach our students to an exceptional standard and to engage in the services, citizenship and values of the University.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding, unified Engineering Department recognised for excellence in teaching, research and employability. The Department notes strong performance in REF2021 and holds several rankings in national guides. The role falls into either the Electrical Power node or Fluid Mechanics node, with a focus on collaborative interdisciplinary research and strong industrial partnerships.
