Job description

We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Associate Practitioner to join our Breast Imaging team, delivering high-quality care across both static and mobile breast screening sites.

Working under appropriate clinical supervision, you will support the delivery of mammography examinations in line with NHS Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP) standards, contributing to an efficient, patient-focused service.

This post offers an excellent development opportunity. You will initially be appointed as a Band 3 Associate Practitioner, with full training provided, including completion of a formal training programme lasting approximately 12–15 months. Upon successful qualification, you will progress to a Band 4 Associate Practitioner role.

Responsibilities
  • To undertake radiographic procedures under supervision of registered radiographic staff.
  • To assist the Radiologist in ensuring the smooth operation of Ultrasound sessions.
  • Preparation of sterile trolleys and assisting with room preparation for special procedures.
  • To carry out instructions from qualified radiological staff accurately and promptly.
  • To assist as required with patient care during assessment clinics when clinical ultrasound and biopsy examinations are performed.
  • To prepare screening clinics for reporting by the Radiologists/Advanced Practitioner.
  • To process and prepare images and paperwork from mobile van in preparation for reporting.
  • To undertake routine clerical procedures as necessary.
  • To retrieve previous films when required by reporting staff.
  • To prepare lists for consensus meetings.
  • To ensure that housekeeping duties are carried out to the required standard including cleaning of equipment, keeping examination rooms clean and tidy and ensuring that stocks of disposable items are replenished.
  • To be able to use NHSBSP computer system and other computer systems that are required in the breast service.
