Purpose of the role

To support the Senior Finance Business Partner, in undertaking their role in providing financial leadership to various UK based projects.

You will support the wider team and leadership in providing financial management, support, expert advice, and consultancy on any financially related matters.

This role supports delivery of the wider finance vision, seeking to shape the future of aviation as a trusted business partner focussed on efficiency, collaboration and innovation, as well as leading by example on our values of Growth, Control and Challenge.

Key Accountabilities

You will support the Senior Finance Business Partner in delivering on their key accountabilities, such as :

  • Improving the impact, and understanding, of financial reporting on business performance
  • Providing analysis and delivering insight linking financial reports to business strategies
  • Provide effective commercial procedures, or initiating change, to ensure key operational, commercial & financial targets are delivered
  • Build partnerships and maintain strong relationships with local management and project-based teams, as well as assist with creating stretching business plans.
  • Challenge management based on the financial data and insights into the implications of their decisions, driving efficiency and cost control
  • Support at review meetings with customers / key stakeholders
  • Support bid preparation / business cases / Intercompany agreements
  • Support contractual negotiations with third parties where financial input is required
  • Support the Senior Finance Business Partner to promote financial policy deployment and implementation plans, ensure business feedback into business planning and financial reporting, and promote financial policy compliance
  • Implementing financial project management best practices, such as Estimate at Completion reviews and project risk / opportunity management
Essential skills and experience
  • A qualified accountant, either ACA, ACCA or CIMA, or finalist.
  • Background & experience within an Aviation / Aerospace, Defence, Technology, or other safety critical industry will be advantageous
  • Comfortable working in a rapidly changing environment and confident to support the implementation of change initiatives
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills - able to present to and influence management teams, with the confidence to develop skills towards communicating confidently at more senior levels within the organisation
  • Able to write effective reports and presentations which are insightful, clear, concise and distil relevant data
  • Good analytical skills, able to use them to contribute positively to commercial discussions
  • Proactive, and self-motivated with the ability to identify and complete tasks with limited initial guidance and supervision, capable of delivering to stretching deadlines without compromising the quality of output
