The Senior Building Surveyor's Role

As a key point of contact for clients—predominantly within the commercial real estate sector—you will deliver a wide range of professional building surveying services across commercial portfolios. This includes everything from condition surveys, dilapidation advice, and party wall matters, through to contract administration and delivering CAT A/B fit‑outs, remedial, and refurbishment projects.

You’ll also have the opportunity to manage teams, lead service delivery, and be involved in the strategic growth of the business unit.

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities Include:
  • Managing and delivering building surveying commissions across feasibility, design, and project delivery stages
  • Leading contract administration for new build, refurbishment, and maintenance projects
  • Providing expert advice to clients and stakeholders across the full property lifecycle
  • Mentoring and developing junior team members
  • Preparing and managing planned preventative maintenance schedules
  • Supporting business unit directors in meeting wider commercial goals
  • Preparing proposals and fee bids
  • Ensuring high‑quality service delivery across all technical outputs
  • Managing sub‑consultants and ensuring compliance with appointment processes
The Successful Senior Building Surveyor Will Have:
Qualifications:
  • MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) – Essential
Experience & Skills:
  • Broad, in‑depth post‑qualification Building Surveying experience
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, legislation, and procurement strategies
  • Confident administering contracts as Employer's Agent / Contract Administrator
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
  • Commercially aware with strong financial and negotiation abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
