Assistant Technical Officer (Aseptic)

This role is a Pharmacy Assistant within the Pharmacy team and involves assisting the preparation of aseptically dispensed products, including adult parenteral nutrition bags, clinical trial products, intravenous additives and chemotherapy.

The position requires operating in a clean, pristine environment to ensure production of quality products; cleaning will be a key duty alongside packing and labelling of products. The role is varied, involving telephone queries, stock control support, and participation in the journey from production to delivery to wards. On‑job competency based training will also be provided.

Job responsibilities

We are looking for a highly motivated, adaptable and conscientious full‑time applicant to join our existing team of technicians, assistants and pharmacists. They will have the ability to work as part of a team, maintain accuracy under pressure, and possess good organisational, communication and numerical skills. GCSE grade C (4) or above in Maths and English is required. Full or part‑time applicants will be considered.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the aseptic preparation of products such as parenteral nutrition bags and chemotherapy.
  • Maintain cleanliness and adherence to GMP and SOPs.
  • Pack and label products accurately.
  • Respond to telephone queries and support stock control.
  • Follow all safety and infection control procedures.

Salary and hours

Weekly Working Hours: 37.5 per week

Salary: Band 2 – £24,465
