Job summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join the Adult Sleep Service at University Hospital Southampton as a Permanent Night assistant physiologist. In this patient-focused role, you will be a key part of the team delivering overnight diagnostic sleep testing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and support patients attending overnight sleep studies
  • Monitor patients throughout their assessments and ensure all equipment functions correctly and safely
  • Download and check sleep study data, identify poor-quality signals and take appropriate action to maintain high diagnostic standards
  • Process returned CPAP devices, manage masks and consumables, and maintain stock levels
  • Update databases, phone patients, and support the CPAP email and telephone helpline
  • Collaborate with physiologists, nurses, and wider colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the service
Work Hours and Pattern
  • One full night shift of 12 hours per week and an additional 3 hours during the week, or two nights per month
  • Flexibility to also work days as required by the service
  • The service currently runs Monday‑Friday
Location and Working Conditions

The role is based at Lymington Hospital and does not provide any opportunity for home working. Due to the nature of this role & service, this role is on site & the hours are as advertised.
