Overview

Empowering Learning is working with a school in West Yorkshire that needs an assistant site manager – school-based. This is a full-time role starting ASAP, supporting the school's cleaning and maintenance teams. The school requires someone to open and close the building, which can be done as a split shift with a mid-day break. Pay is £13 to £18 per hour and the position may become permanent for the right candidate.

Responsibilities
  • Cleaning the building or supervising a team of cleaners
  • Gardening and performing landscape duties or supervising others in these roles
  • Inspecting the building, including heating, cooling, lighting and alarm systems, to ensure they are in good working order
  • Performing basic repairs and maintenance tasks as required
  • Sourcing, booking and supervising contractors for major repairs
  • Monitoring cleaning materials, tools, and furniture and reordering as required
  • Managing bookings for any buildings or rooms available for hire
  • Opening the building at the start of the day and locking all doors and windows when not in operation
  • Adhering to the company’s safety policies to create a safe working environment for everyone
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Experience in facilities management, building maintenance, or supervision of cleaning/grounds teams (preferred)
  • Ability to open and close the building; reliability and punctuality
  • Strong organisational and communication skills for coordinating with staff, contractors, and school stakeholders
  • Ability to work within school hours and accommodate a split shift if necessary
