As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support senior quantity surveyors and commercial managers in the delivery of cost management services across multiple construction projects. The role will involve assisting with cost planning, procurement, contract administration, and financial reporting, while gradually taking on increased responsibility as your experience develops. This position provides a clear development pathway toward becoming a Quantity Surveyor within a consultancy environment.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting senior quantity surveyors across pre- and post-contract stages
  • Assisting with cost planning, budgeting, and cost reporting
  • Preparing tender documentation and supporting procurement processes
  • Assisting with contractor valuations, variations, and final accounts
  • Monitoring project costs and cash flow
  • Coordinating commercial information between clients, contractors, and consultants
  • Supporting contract administration under JCT and/or NEC forms
  • Attending project meetings and assisting with reporting
  • Providing accurate financial updates to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Supporting lessons-learned reviews and wider team initiatives

  • Awareness of JCT and/or NEC contracts (desirable)
  • Experience working with developers, consultants, or main contractors (desirable)
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills
  • A proactive, self‑motivated attitude with a desire to learn and progress
  • Competency with Microsoft Office software
  • Understanding of procurement routes and cost management processes
