A well-established specialist contractor delivering high-quality painting and decorating projects across the South Coast is looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join its growing commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious QS seeking real progression, hands‑on responsibility, and exposure to a broad mix of projects.

The Role

You will support senior commercial staff in managing multiple contracts from tender through to final account. Day‑to‑day responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with measurements, take‑offs, and cost analysis
  • Preparing valuations, variations, and financial reports
  • Supporting subcontractor procurement and account management
  • Contributing to tender submissions and pricing exercises
  • Conducting regular site visits across the region
  • Working closely with project managers to ensure accurate cost control and forecasting
About You
  • Experience in a quantity surveying or commercial role within construction (painting & decorating exposure a bonus, not essential)
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills
  • Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships at all levels
  • Proactive, detail‑focused, and eager to develop professionally
  • Full UK driving licence
