Job summary

A regional health service provider in Wales is inviting applications for a permanent Assistant Psychologist role to join their Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team. The successful candidate will deliver low-level psychological interventions, support assessments, and promote family involvement in care. A degree in Psychology is required, and experience with clinical populations is beneficial. Welsh language skills are desirable, and candidates will work within a supportive community environment that focuses on improving mental health services.

Job description
Overview

The Psychology Adult Mental Health (AMH) Service invites applications for a permanent, 1.00 wte (5 days/37.5 hours per week) Band 5 Assistant Psychologist to join the Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team (CRHTT) in Bro Cerwyn, Haverfordwest. The successful applicant will work in the community, alongside Assistant Psychologists across Carmarthen, Aberystwyth, and Llanelli, and will be supervised by the Principal Practitioner (Counselling) Psychologist.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the development of collaborative formulations and deliver standardised, low-level psychological interventions to the local population under the CRHTT.
  • Assist with administration of psychometrics/questionnaires and the collation of data to support onward analysis and service evaluations.
  • Undertake protocol-based psychological assessment of clients using tests (including neuropsychological assessments), self-reported measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations, and semi-structured interviews.
  • Promote the involvement of family members and other supportive others in the client’s care and treatment where appropriate.
  • Evidence a high standard of clinical governance, including concise and informative record keeping, and develop clinical reports and correspondence to key stakeholders (client and referrer) for review by the clinical supervisor.
  • Promote the clinical development and wellbeing of colleagues within the CRHTT Psychology Service and wider CRHTT teams and the Health Board.

The post-holder should demonstrate innovation, commitment, and enthusiasm for improving the psychological needs of people with a range of (complex) mental health conditions. They must be able to work independently and as part of the CRHTT Psychology Service and wider CRHTT to support existing services.

Qualifications and experience
  • A recognised upper second-class honours degree in Psychology and Graduate Basis for Registration with the British Psychological Society (BPS).
  • Experience of working with clinical populations is beneficial.
  • The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; applications from English and/or Welsh speakers are welcome.
